Hi!
I have photos of our trip but they can´t get loaded on right now, so I will write about the other days when we can find a computer that will let us load the pictures.
Yesterday we went to the waterfall in la fortuna via horsback!!! It was so cool! I wish I could have gome for longer, but I had a lot of fun. when we got to the waterfall we went swimming in it! It was so cold! me and my friends went down to the actual waterfall and climbed around. As we were coming back, we saw a sloth on the side of the road just hanging on a fence there! He was so cute.
When we got back to the hotel we went swimming in the hot springs there. There are like 10 different hot springs and we started in the hottest one and kind of moved down. They were like brown from the minerals. That night, we went to see the Arenal Volcano. We hiked up part of the volcano and saw quite a few rainbow toucans (the guide said that they were the biggest and meanest of all of Costa Rica. They rob other birds nests) and parrots, who mate for life and never pick another if the mate dies. We saw these awesome fernlike things that, if you touch them, they fold up like cocoons if they feel in danger. Then we drove to the other side of the volcano and sat next to a river with fireflies and watched the volcano. It was soooo cool! We saw what looked like fire coming down from the mountain! The guide said that we were 4 out of 3,000 people who got to see lava in their lifetime. It was awesome!
Today in the morning, we got up and went to this nature reserve where this vet decided to buy a big property and start a reserve for injured and abandoned animals. His son runs the reserve. We saw little racoons (which climbed on my back), lots of spider monkeys (and I held the monkey Jessica´s hand), a wild pig named Perla (she was so sweet we got to pet her even though in the wild they can kill humans, jaguars and monkeys!). We also saw caiman, parakeets and parrots and Hedwig the spectacled owl. The birds were there because people had trimmed their wings so that they could keep them as pets and they couldn´t fly away and then abandoned them. Isn´t that sad? Last but not least, my favourite was the kinkajou named Benjamin. He was sooooo cute! I got to pet him and he held my hand and licked me!
Now me and Mom are in the town. We walked the town in about 10 minutes and then tried the food here. Mom wants to sit in the town centre next and then we will go for ice cream.
Later,
Mica
